Coraline - Neil Gaiman

I was never that keen on scary children's stories as a kid, but this is really too odd to be particularly frightening even to sensitive souls like me. It's elegantly written but, while weird in places, doesn't seem particularly original, nor are the characters very convincing. Coraline seems like an adult stuck in a child's body. Perhaps Gaiman is trying not to patronise his young readers but some concessions need to be made to all of us.
