Last Orders - Graham Swift

This won The Booker Prize, apparently. I wouldn't have voted for it - I just don't like his style of writing. It's accomplished and clever but somehow, despite the emphasis on relationships and memory, also mannered and cold. His female characters are an unconvincing mixture of Madonna and whore, mysterious and frustrating and not quite getting to the heart of things - much like the book as a whole.
