The first choice of my new reading group - thus, not a book I'd usually read. A murder thriller with touches of humour and a plot that could be described as either devious or confusing. Too many characters, most sketchily drawn, and an uncomfortably self-conscious and slightly patronising attempt to be racially aware. But on the whole interesting and readable.
