Hampered, a little unfairly, by being rather dated these days, with cultural references and behaviours that are simply baffling to the modern reader. Hampered also on its own account for not having much of a plot - but both hamperings make it a conversely fascinating social (and feminist) document. Parts of it were very funny, so some humour must never go out of fashion.
