Women of the Dunes - Sarah Maine

There was a sense of 'self-published novel picked up by big publisher' about this, with its rather laboured triple plots, apparently semi-autobiographical heroine and a particularly strained coincidence that inexplicably involved changing planes at Heathrow for an internal flight to Oxford. But it was still highly readable, and the descriptions of remote Scottish seascapes were romantically evocative. So I enjoyed it despite myself.
