It might be pointless, it might be self-centred but Dave Gorman's (apparently) true search for 54 namesakes makes his obsessions entertaining. It also seems to capture the imagination - most people I've mentioned this to have at least seen the TV series (I haven't). The inclusion of long-suffering Danny Wallace's point of view brings the story some grounding in sanity, but it's all a (rather badly copy-edited) riveting read on all levels.
