This won the Booker Prize so there's no denying it's accomplished. That doesn't make it any less self-satisfied with its cleverness though. It's probably funny and familiar if you're a middle-class, middle-aged man (of any religion) but, well, I'm not.

    I agree. I didn't even finish it although it was a book for my real-life book club. That shows you how much I enjoyed it.
