More historical servants, this time carrying out their well-researched duties during the English Civil War. I was lured by promises of luscious food descriptions but actually they're not particularly memorable, and neither are the characters. Or the plot. What was it about again?
Hmm, sounds like a dud. I only read a few chapters, really couldn't get into it. I liked the writer's previous book (a previous book). But this one sounded better than it turned out to be.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it was just too emotionless - you couldn't really care about what was going on because all the detail was about the historical context and not the characters' feelings.
